Many slum children grow up spending their days on the streets, rag-picking, begging, and looking for work and are often pressured into unfavorable addictions.  Located twenty kilometers outside the city of Bangalore, the REDS Skill Training Center offers teenage boys a chance at a different life, away from many of the pressures they were born into.

The units of REDS STC are Carpentry, Welding, Tailoring, and Electrical. There are 15 trainees, 10 formal students. There are two students in the Carpentry unit, 4 students in the Welding unit, seven students in the Tailoring unit, eleven students in the Electrical unit. Students under fourteen are sent to nearby government schools. Besides their regular activities, they have extra-curricular activities such as counseling, awareness programs for health and hygiene, Yoga, gardening, and regular games. Last year almost all the units were closed due to Covid-19. During. However, boys were inside the campus and did their regular activities. Many were sent home during the pandemic. Vocational Education and Job Training

Currently, the institute has courses in typing, shorthand, keyboarding, computer literacy, spoken English, and coaching for various competitive exams, so that the poor students who cannot afford higher education can compete for jobs for clerical works.

It facilitates job training programs for the unemployed youth of Barh and its surroundings. Regardless of their age, caste, creed, we provide job opportunities to the youth. We admit all students to train them with different skills like Computer, Typing, Spoken English, Competition classes and other skills which are related to Education. The brothers initiated the program in the year 1994 and began to help the students with different skills. The Institute has recognition from the government of Bihar under the Society Registration Act 21,1860 (Regd. No. 286/99).

At present, the Institute provides the following programs: Spoken English in two different levels, Computer Courses from the duration of six months to one year, and Typing Courses in both Hindi and English. Currently, the total number of students is 203

Effects of Covid 19 pandemic

This Institute too was affected by the Pandemic. Before the pandemic, there used to be about 400 students enrolled but now it has come down to half. Because of this, it was difficult to pay the staff, but the institute managed to pay them. From August the institute is reopened for the regular classes, but not many students are coming.

We are trying all the way possible to provide the best education in this area among all the other institutions. Many of our students have been benefitted from our programs and have got jobs in different places in India.
